I really wanted to love this place but it just fell short in too many places. It's been renovated so the lobby and the rooms are cute but also kitschy. The bed was comfortable and the blackout shades were amazing. Enjoyed the pool and turf area on the 1st level too, the water was perfect and the downstairs bar was fun!
I'm one who likes to unpack and move into my hotel room while I'm there, but there are no dressers, drawers, nor closets and only a few hangers on a rack. There was only one towel hook in the bathroom, and each day housekeeping would leave one less towel than they took. When our room was serviced it was great, but it would just randomly not be serviced on some days.
Made a couple calls to the front desk requesting towels and hangers, but never received any despite multiple calls.
The cafe in the lobby was great - the specialty drinks were really good and the food was tasty. Ate there a few times and would definitely recommend it. We tried to get some of the drinks from the cooler in the evening but the hotel wasn't able to charge them to our rooms, which was frustrating, so ended up walking to a gas station. The hotel doesn't have much in terms of food and drink nearby.

The rooms are thoughtfully designed with a distinctive Austin flair, perfectly capturing the city’s vibe and culture. Jennifer, who checked my husband and me in, was incredibly welcoming and made the process smooth and enjoyable with her friendly demeanor and great sense of humor. The beds were comfortable, as you’d expect from a Marriott property. ||We did encounter a small issue with the hot water in our room upon arrival, but Jennifer quickly sent an engineer who resolved the problem within minutes, showcasing excellent customer service. ||The breakfast and coffee shop are fantastic, offering a great start to the day. While we didn’t have time to try the on-site restaurant, we’re definitely planning to stop by for a drink before we leave.||Overall, this property is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended!

Updated Sheraton and love the Pink tones throughout. The rooms could use some decorative paintings or pictures in the walls. And better lighting in sink area. The microwave was helpful in my room but asked for a space heater. Received wonderful front desk assistance when asking for some more heat in my room.
I've stayed here many times while in town for Texas Longhorns football.

My friends and I had a fantastic stay at the Downright Hotel! The location was absolutely perfect, making it easy to explore the surrounding area. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our visit was enjoyable, offering friendly and attentive service from check-in to check-out. The room was incredibly spacious, providing plenty of comfort and relaxation after a day of sightseeing. Every detail was thoughtfully arranged, and the atmosphere was both welcoming and luxurious. My husband and I got to the hotel and we immediately were impressed by the valet gentleman named Josh who helped us with any questions we had and also getting us set up with valet parking. Super nice guy! The room was pleasant and the front desk employees named Jared and Cheyenne were both super nice. Great experience over all! Highly recommend staying here.

On my first trip visiting my son in Austin, Texas they recommended this hotel. It is close to their apartment which is very convenient. I am loving this hotel. The staff have been very friendly and helpful.

Traveling solo can be scary but I feel safe here. I am glad I have family here to show me the town and surrounding areas.

My room has a amazing view of the city especially with the lights at night. The hotel is beautiful and also decorated for Christmas.

My room is very nice and the staff tidy it up everyday. The TV is huge and the channel selection is great. The only thing I don’t like is the sofa in the room is not comfortable and it is hard as a rock.

Great Hotel for the Location and Vibes

I stayed here while helping my family move into UT, and it was the perfect spot for the weekend. It’s a Marriott property, so if you’re a member, you can score some nice perks like free breakfast.

Location:
The location is awesome—just a 10-minute walk to UT and about 15 minutes to Sixth Street.

Atmosphere:
The hotel has a chic and cute vibe, with most of it recently upgraded.

Parking:
Self-parking is $42 a day, and valet is $49. There's also public parking nearby, across from the Hertz building, which is another option.

Food:
For breakfast, there’s a place called Morning Bird where you can grab small bites and coffee. If you’re a Marriott member, you get a breakfast voucher. Also, check out the Swim Club restaurant on the lower floors—it’s good, but make sure to get a reservation.

Service:
Service was solid. The staff was super friendly and nice.

Amenities:
The gym is a good size, so you can still get your workout in.

Stayed when visiting Austin as tourists, very close to State Capitol but other than that pretty far from everything else (20min walk at least, difficult with someone slightly older). The hotel seems like it’s mainly for conferences - the breakfast cafe is amazing but was always sold out of some options by the time we got there because of how busy it was with conference folk. They’d reserve pool seating for conference people as well. The rooms are clean and I enjoyed the retro decor, thought it was beautiful. The staff were lovely and helpful.

Wish I had stayed somewhere closer to the river for those evening walks/ things to do nearby (cafes, bars, restaurants).
