I absolutely love this place! The owner and the talented stylist who does my hair are amazing. I didn’t ask for their permission before mentioning their names, so I’ll keep it general here. After my stylist finished my locs, the owner stepped in to fix one for me, which was so thoughtful. Before I left, she told me about her shea butter line( she a real go getter) and I just tried it—wow, it’s incredible!

I also had a fun moment joking with the wonderful young lady who manages the shop and schedules appointments. She went above and beyond by grabbing the candy I playfully asked for. Such a great experience all around. Thanks, Queens, much appreciated!”

Breya is my Loctician always does an amazing job. The salon is very clean a great atmosphere. The service is amazing from the receptionist checking in and checking out. I have recommended coworkers and friends to Island designs for a great experience and getting your hair done where there’s lax breeze press and curl, Miss Lorraine has a great crew of ladies working with her.

My experiences at Island design is clean, and well organized. The stylist I’ve been to has done a GREAT job doing my loc main and style. Fatimah! I also have visit there nail salon next door with Katurah she’s always ready and available when I need an appointment. It’s also clean and organized on her side too. There always flexible with scheduling appointments due to my busy work schedule. Thanks a lot Island Design Staff and owner Boss Lady!

Came to Island Design Studio for an appointment with Lorraine...she was amazing! Very friendly, efficient, and was willing to answer all my questions regarding my starter locs. The retwist (and included wash!!) only took 60 minutes + drying time. Definitely coming back again 🙂

So I've been going to Island design for The last 5 years. Between Petra, Lorraine, Breya, and Taylor, I have had a fantastic experience working with them. I started my locks from, two-strand twist with Petra. Breya and Taylor have done my loc maintenance and color. Yesterday I ended up having issues at work which led me to show up late. Ms. Lorraine was very gracious and was able to fit me into her schedule for loc maintenance and two strand twist.

Addition: Breya has been my consistent loctician for the last couple years. While I haven't had them style my hair personally the staff - Kida, Fatimah, Charnice- also make it a welcoming environment. If you're a transplant to Philly area and looking for someone to handle your hair, I recommend Island Design.
